“Miracle That We Met” is a 2018 Korean drama, 18 episodes, categorized as Fantasy or Supernatural, Romance, and Family, and streaming on Viki and Apple TV.
- Memorable Quote: “Error in identity of car accident death. Song Heon Cheol, who was scheduled to die, is a different person with the same name. Code Red: Prompt Handling of Emergency is Required.”
SUMMARY: What are the odds that two patients with the same name and birthday would end up in the same hospital on the same day? Highly unlikely, right? What are the odds the Grim Reaper would go to the wrong room of the wrong guy and send him to the afterlife?
♦ Song Hyun-Cheol (A) Was Supposed to Die
In “Miracle That We Met”, the story begins with two men who share the same name but lead completely different lives.
- Song Hyun-Cheol (A) is a successful bank branch manager who appears to have everything: a respected career, financial stability, and a seemingly ideal family. Beneath the surface, however, his personal life is far from perfect. His wife is miserable and is seriously thinking about getting a divorce.
- Song Hyun-Cheol (B) lives a humble but wonderful life. He works hard to support his family while facing ongoing financial and personal struggles.
The two men have never met each other, but their lives are going to be connected by a series of unlikely circumstances. Both men are in a car accident on the same day, at the same time.
- Song Hyun-Cheol (B) does not have life-threatening injuries, so with a little rest, he should be able to go home from the hospital.
- Song Hyun-Cheol (A) is literally knocking on death’s door. Literally! Like … the Grim Reaper is walking the halls of the hospital looking for his room. It’s his time to go!
However, the Grim Reaper finds two rooms, each with the name “Song Hyun-Cheol”. The Grim Reaper takes the soul of Song Hyun-Cheol (B). Uh oh! Poor Song Hyun-Cheol (B) starts wandering around in the afterlife, confused and wondering how he got there. When his spirit found his way back into the land of the living, his family was grieving, and his body had already been cremated. He’s upset! Ya think?? But the Grim Reaper is even more upset. This is a MAJOR SCREW UP!
- “Error in identity of car accident death. Song Heon Cheol who was scheduled to die is a different person with the same name. Code Red: Prompt Handling of Emergency is Required.”
Song Hyun-Cheol (B) Needs Another Body
Song Hyun-Cheol (B) no longer has a body. What can the Grim Reaper do? First things first. He needs to send the soul of Song Hyun-Cheol (A) into the afterlife. After that, the Grim Reaper allows the soul of Song Hyun-Cheol (B) to enter the body of Song Hyun-Cheol (A).
Would you say that this situation challenges the natural order of things?
The family of Song Hyun-Cheol (A) is about to pay their last respects when he rises from the dead. Whew! They were about to cremate his body. His family, especially his wife, is in shock! As soon as they are home together, the wife immediately notices changes. Her husband’s personality and behavior are different. Who is this man? He can’t be her husband. He’s too … too … nice!
If she’s baffled, can you imagine how disoriented Song Hyun-Cheol (B) must feel? He’s caught between conflicting obligations, struggling to navigate a reality that no one around him can fully understand. Family members begin noticing changes they cannot explain. Relationships that once seemed stable are tested, while others are unexpectedly strengthened. The families must deal with questions that have no easy answers. Like … who’s married to who, and who is the father of who, and …?????
The boundaries between life, death, destiny, and familial duty and responsibility have become blurred. It’s going to be a fascinating “new life” journey.

“Miracle That We Met” is a totally feel-good K-drama. The only problem the viewer is going to have is … which wife should get the husband? It’s a pretty tough choice!
