Mighty No. 9 Release Delayed to September, Physical Retail Version Announced
Unfortunately, Keiji Inafune fans who have been avidly awaiting his new crowd funded game release, Mighty No. 9, will have to wait a bit longer for the game. Compcept officially confirmed today that the title has been pushed back for a September 15 release date. The game was originally expected for a spring 2015 release date, but that is no longer the case. The good news is that Deep Silver has partnered with the title for a physical release in retail stores.
Developer Comcept is also promising that the new distribution deal will allow more time and resources for the game to get additional testing, polish and the creation of physical retail versions. In addition, Comcept is proclaiming the changes will not affect any of the game’s Kickstarter plans or rewards. All physical release versions of Mighty No. 9 will now include the Ray “Abandoned Lab Stage” DLC, which has an additional stage and boss battle along with adding Ray as a playable character.
Per the new partnership with Deep Silver, Comcept will remain the owner of the Might No. 9 brand, and both companies are set to market and distribute the game. Deep Silver will handle the game’s sales and also help Comcept with QA testing for the game.
Commenting on the announcement, Comcept CEO and game developer Keiji Inafune stated: “This is a greatopportunity for Comcept:The partnership enables us to deliver Mighty No. 9 to a wider audience while adding some great extra value to the game. This comes with the price of a short delay, but we are confident that the extra content is worth the wait.”
Mighty No. 9 is set for a September 15 release in the US and September 18 release for Europe and other international territories. The digital release of the game will go for $19.99, and the physical retail version will cost $29.99, which will come with the additional DLC and other various extras.
