The console itself got some cool updates, chief among them that’ll be big for fans is the news that Xbox One is finally getting backwards compatibility! It’s start this holiday, and it’ll grow until all the Xbox 360 titles are playable. They even did a Mass Effect demo to prove it works!
But also, a new Elite Controller is coming for Xbox One. This controller has interchangeable parts, ability to adjust accuracy and sensitivity, and numerous other things to help improve your gaming skills!
Some more games were announced, including Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. Forza 6 got a September 15th release date, and, though leaked earlier, we got a first trailer for Dark Souls III!
Fallout 4 talked a bit about what the game would be like on Xbox One, and revealed that mods would be downloadable and shareable on Xbox One, a true first for the series.
Tom Clancy’s The Division, and Rainbow Six: Siege both got some time in the limelight, each showing off their unique visions. The Division will release in December, while Siege will release October 13th. But, if you get Siege this October, you’ll be able to download for free Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Vegas 2!
The ID@Xbox initiative also got some love, showing off numerous independent titles that are coming either exclusively to Xbox One, or as a timed exclusive. These included Tacoma from Fullbright, Ashen, Beyond Eyes, Cuphead, and more.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was another title that got a big gameplay demo, and by the end we knew exactly when we would play it, November 10th, 2015.
Rare took the stage and surprised everyone twice, first by unveiling a special Rare Replay, featuring 30 Rare games to celebrate their 30 year history. But also, they showed off their newest “most ambitious title ever”, Sea of Thieves.
Easily one of the bigger surprises at the Microsoft E3 Press Conference was showing off the Hololens in collaboration with Minecraft. In the live demo, we got to see the true power of the holographic device, as it literally build a mini-world from Minecraft onto a table, and we got to see the guy command and interact with it. It was mind blowing.
Finally, the announcement many a gamer were hoping for two-fold, Gears of War is back. First off, an Xbox One remastering of the original game, titled Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, will arrive August 25th.
And yes, there’s a new Gears of War coming. A gameplay demo was shown, and it seems to make full use of the Xbox One’s powerful graphics. Not much is known about it outside of what we saw, but it appears to be coming in Holiday 2016.
So, how was the conference overall? Well, there were some happy moments, but was it truly “the greatest lineup in Xbox history”? I’ll let you the gamers decide that.
