Mega Man Returns To Comics Courtesy Of UDON

Back in Mega Man’s golden age, when the Blue Bomber starred in a new video game almost every week, there were…NO comic books about him. There was a TV cartoon, there were figures and toys, but no comics. It took until the early 2010s for someone to rectify that…Archie decided to complement its Sonic lineup with a new book about another classic video game character. Despite taking so long to show up, their Mega Man comic lasted quite a while and even featured a team-up with the Sonic characters.

If you missed this book…it’s coming back! UDON Entertainment has announced the imminent arrival of MEGA MAN ADVENTURES…a series of oversized hardcover collections reprinting the Archie series. You can put it next to your reprints of Archie’s TMNT comics!

These won’t be JUST reprints either…UDON says “each volume will include a brand-new short story set in this classic universe, produced by creators that worked on these original stories!” Ain’t that cool? The only downside is that they haven’t revealed a release date for these books yet.

But that doesn’t matter, because it’s not the only Mega Man book UDON has planned…yes, they’re making their OWN Mega Man series and it hits shelves as early as May! UDON is calling that month “Mega May” in fact…it’s when the first issue of MEGA MAN: TIMELINES appears. This will be a series of five one-shots that explores the different eras of Mega Man history, from his 8-bit origins to the 16-bit X years to the “Legends” variation on the Playstation. The first issue will be out May 28.

But before ANY of that, you’ll be able to get a mega-taste of Mega Man for nothing when UDON releases a special preview issue, MEGA MAN #0, during Free Comic Book Day on May 5. Be sure to arrive early at your comic shop before Dr. Wily steals them all!

This is so exciting! I’ve been a huge fan of Mega Man since the NES days, and it’s great to see him making a comeback in the comics. The Archie series was fun, but I’m curious to see how UDON will expand the story. The new stories in the reprints sound like a cool addition!

I’m really happy to see Mega Man get more love in the comic world. The Archie series was a pleasant surprise back in the day. The fact that UDON is making their own Mega Man comic means we’re about to get even more cool content. If only we could get a crossover with Sonic again, though!

I think it’s awesome that UDON is bringing back the Mega Man comic. The Archie version had such a strong fanbase, and it’s nice that we get to relive those stories with some new content. Hopefully, this series can pick up where Archie left off and bring in some new readers too!

. I’m excited, but also a little nervous. While I love Mega Man, the transition from Archie’s style to UDON’s is a big shift. I hope the new series doesn’t just retell old stories but gives us fresh perspectives and deeper dives into the characters we’ve grown up with.
