Last June Warhammer Chaosbane launched for Playstation 4, XBox One and PC. The man who composed the soundtrack for that game was Chance Thomas, a professional whose resume includes games like DOTA 2, The Lord of the Rings Online and King Kong. Warhammer Chaosbane was his most recent project, and in this new video, Thomas reveals the secrets to his composition process.
“I try to totally immerse myself in that world, in that fiction,” said Thomas. “It’s almost like a method actor — what would I really feel like if my family was being threatened by the Chaos horde? And to the degree that I get in touch with the emotions that I think I would really feel in that world, then I start to have musical ideas present themselves in my mind.”
Thomas is currently cooking up the score to the Tomb Kings expansion, set to release later this year. It will be an entirely new story, told through a new act separate from the main campaign and taking place in brand-new areas. The villain will also be new: instead of fighting Chaos you’ll have the titular Tomb Kings, and their undead army, to contend with.
Warhammer Chaosbane is available now for Playstation 4, XBox One and PC.
