Today Crunchyroll announced the upcoming anime comedy MASHLE: Magic And Muscles will premiere the first episode of its English dub version later this week.
MASHLE takes place in a world of magic where everyone knows how to use it. Magic is so commonplace that most residents don’t even think about it. Everyone knows magic except ONE person…that boy who lives in the forest whom no one talks to. Thus, no one knows that Mash Burnedead (wow, amazing name) lacks the ability to do magic. But if his plan works out, that won’t matter.
Mash has been exercising and lifting nearly every hour of every day, building his muscles to the point where he can stand up against magical forces and potentially win. Now he’s enrolled himself in the country’s most elite magic school, where he has his sights set on earning the institution’s most prestigious title, “Divine Visionary”, without casting a single spell. The title is a portmanteau of “Magic” and “Muscle,” though it also relates to the main character’s name.
Here’s who’s playing who in the English version: Aleks Le (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba; VINLAND SAGA) has been cast as Mash. Brian Anderson (Ascendance of a Bookworm; Pretty Boy Detective Club) is Finn Ames, Mash’s dorm roommate. Stephen Fu (The Case Study of Vanitas; Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba) is Lance Crown, top student and Mash’s rival. Ben Diskin (The Seven Deadly Sins; Aggretsuko) is playing Dot Barrett, an impulsive and noisy young man who hates both Mash and Lance. And Anjali Kunapaneni (Fena: Pirate Princess; Tengoku Daimakyo) is playing Lemon Irvine, a female student with a secret crush on Mash.
The trailer for MASHLE (which is still in Japanese) lies below. To find out what the English version sounds like you’ll have to go to Crunchyroll on May 26.
