Marvel’s Most Wanted Gets Pilot Order
Despite being shelved at first, the spinoff of Agents of Shield, titled Most Wanted, has gotten a pilot order at ABC. The show will start series regulars Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter, who joined Agents of Shield in Season 02 and have been featured prominently ever since.
At the TCA’s, it was confirmed by showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon that if the show gets picked up to order, they’ll be taken out of Agents of Shield:
“Logistically it does mean they’re going to be leaving to make that,” Whedon told IGN at ABC’s Television Critics Association winter press tour part. “They’re a part of our show. We definitely think they are capable of carrying an entire other show. That being said, it’s sort of bittersweet. We’re very excited about the new show.”
They go on to note that Agents of Shield may not give Most Wanted a backdoor pilot, as the leads and possible theme are already established:
“We’re pretending that there’s no such thing as a pilot, that it’s only characters who live in a world where there’s superheroes. We just know at some point they’re going to have to go somewhere else,” he said. “We have a lot of characters and we’re always introducing new characters, so while they’re going to be missed, we’re certainly not going to try to replace them in any way.”
We’ll let you know if Most Wanted gets picked up for season order.
