Marvel Has Plans For Future Console Games
Marvel is on fire in regards to many forms of media, including movies, TV shows, comics, and to a degree, video games. Yet they haven’t had a “major” console game release in quite some time. However, this may change because at Comic-Con (via Polygon), Marvel has been making plans for new video game console titles.
“We are very much focused on what our console strategy will be for the future,” said Mike Jones, producer at Marvel Games. “Obviously console games take a lot longer to incubate, so that will be a slower process for us.” He added, “We are very much taking a controlled, less-is-more, quality-focused, developer-focused strategy. But it is very top of mind, and we’ll have a lot more announcements probably next year.”
We may already have an idea of what is to come, as Marvel and Telltale Games have a partnership in the works, but no titles from that partnership have been announced as of yet. Also, though there are no official console titles out now, Marvel is ruling the mobile market with titles such as Marvel: Future Fight, Marvel: Contest of Champions, and Marvel: Puzzle Quest.
There’s plenty of potential for Marvel to do this and do it right. We’ll just have to see who gets first crack at it.
