Madame Web Dumped Onto Digital Today

Sony has announced when their latest Spider-Man-adjacent theatrical picture, Madame Web, will be released to digital platforms — and it’s today. Normally the day the announcement is made is not the day the release actually happens, but this is Madame Web. You didn’t have to be a cynical paranormal paramedic in 2003 New York to predict this one.

The lowest-performing, lowest-rated “superhero” movie in quite a while was chased out of theaters rather quickly and has now made its home debut in a month’s time. It made just $17.8 million in its opening weekend at the box office, and in comparison, its equally mocked cousin Morbius took in $39.1 million in the same amount of time.

But if you really, truly want her, here she is. Madame Web is the alternate name for Cassandra Webb, the aforementioned New York paramedic from the 2000s who is cynical about a lot of things in life. She suddenly finds herself saddled with responsibility when a dormant power is awakened in her; the ability to see the future. Cassie keeps seeing three teenage girls getting murdered by this one dude because they’re supposed to be superheroes in the future and he doesn’t like that. So she rounds them up and….stuff happens, but it’s all disjointed, full of plot holes and not on the level of excitement one would expect from a superhero movie.

The digital release of Madame Web will come with the same bonus features that are set to appear on the Blu-Ray:

  • Oracle of the Page
  • Fight Like a Spider
  • Future Vision
  • Casting the Web
  • Gag Reel
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Easter Eggs

A preview of those features can be watched below. Madame Web is now available to purchase digitally on all platforms that sell digital movies.

Well, it's not surprising that "Madame Web" didn't do so hot at the box office. I mean, if the star herself isn't excited about it, why would anyone else be? Dakota Johnson's nonchalant attitude definitely didn't help drum up any excitement. Plus, if the movie's as disjointed as they say, it's no wonder it didn't pull in the crowds. Maybe next time they'll put a bit more effort into making a film people actually want to see.

Sony just need to stop making these Spiderman spin offs. Spiderman villains and allies are not as charismatic as Batman's

Dakota Johnson's press tour antics are just classic Dakota, if you ask me. I mean, who else would casually admit they haven't even seen their own movie? But hey, I guess that's just part of her charm. And let's be real, her dry humor and candidness are what make her stand out. As for "Madame Web," well, it's not all on Dakota. If the movie's got plot holes big enough to swing through, it's no wonder it flopped.

The digital release of "Madame Web" might just give the movie a second chance to shine. Sure, it didn't do so hot in theaters, but sometimes films find their audience later on. And with those bonus features, it might be worth checking out, even if just for a laugh. Who knows, maybe it'll become a guilty pleasure for some.

The digital release of "Madame Web" feels like a Hail Mary pass after its lackluster box office performance. But hey, maybe lightning will strike twice. With all those bonus features, it might attract some curious viewers who missed it in theaters. And who knows, maybe it'll find its audience on the small screen.

The digital release of "Madame Web" is an interesting move, considering its rocky start at the box office. But hey, maybe it'll find new life on home video. With all those bonus features, it might just be enough to lure in some curious viewers who missed it in theaters.
