DC All In Saga: The New Gods Arrives On Earth This January

In 2024 DC launched a new line of books under the banner “All-In.” The line was heralded with the one-shot book DC All In Special #1, which will continue its story this month with DC All In Saga: Darkseid vs. The World #1, out October 28. But you won’t have to wait two years for the third book…DC just announced DC All In Saga: The New Gods for January 13.

The book is mainly focused on Mister Miracle and the current situation of the residents of New Genesis, who had to evacuate their home after an alien invasion. The place they picked as refuge: Earth. They could have done better (I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but some Earthlings seem to react to immigrants these days with…hostility). But it’s worse than that; now that Fourth Worlders are here, that means Fourth World technology is cross-pollinating with our own, and it will no doubt be used for unscrupulous purposes. On Earth Mister Miracle is better known as Scott Free, the famous escape artist. Has he found a situation he can’t escape from?

DC All In Saga: The New Gods will be written by Ram V and Alex Paknadel, with art by Joan Urgell. “I’ve been itching to get back to The New Gods,” said Ram V, “and with this one-shot, it was an opportunity to dive back in, check in on where we left them and what they’ve been up to, and perhaps set up a few things for exciting new New Gods stories to come. As the All In Saga brings the greater story of the DC Universe to a pivotal point, the New Gods must make an important decision about their future, one that will define not only their destinies, but those of the humans and superhumans they’ve come to call friends.”

DC All In Saga: The New Gods #1, will feature a main cover by Nimit Malavia and variant covers by Dustin Nguyen, Kyuyong Eom, Jason Shawn Alexander, and Javi Fernández, plus a foil variant cover by Nguyen. The 48-page book arrives January 13, 2027 for $5.99 regular, variants $6.99. Here’s what they look like…

I found the "All-In" saga's approach to the New Gods a bit lackluster, especially considering how rich that mythology is. The potential for depth was there, but it felt like they skimmed the surface rather than exploring the character dynamics, especially with figures like Orion and Darkseid. Did it strike anyone else as underwhelming compared to previous takes on the New Gods?
