Fans who’ve been waiting for a new season of Nickelodeon’s The Legend of Korra are soon to have their patience rewarded as the new season will be released next week!
The Legend of Korra Book Three: Change will debut on Friday, June 27th at 7 p.m. on Nickelodeon. The premiere will three episodes on the same evening titled, “A Breath of Fresh Air,” “Rebirth of a Nation,” and “Meet the Family.”
The new season will take place several weeks after the end of Book Two: Spirits, and according to an earlier interview with Jeremy Zuckerman, the sound and music designer of the series, the new season will have a tone matching closely to the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series.
News, first reported by IGN, verified that the new season will go into a break on July 4th after the three episode season premier.
Official descriptions of the season’s first episodes have been released (note they will carry some rather major late arrival spoilers):
“A Breath of Fresh Air”: After the events of Harmonic Convergence, Avatar Korra discovers that her decision to leave the spirit portals open has unexpected consequences. Wild spirit vines have overgrown Republic City and Airbenders are suddenly popping up across the four nations.
“Rebirth of a Nation”: Korra, Tenzin and Team Avatar search for new Airbenders in an effort to recruit them and rebuild the Air Nation. Meanwhile, a band of sinister criminals are organizing to hunt down the Avatar themselves.
Major spoiler alert for those who aren’t yet caught up. The season two finale made many lasting changes in the world of the Avatar universe (hence the name), the consequences of which will likely form the crux of the plot as the spirit world is released into the newly modernized world of Avatar. And for those who’re well versed in the series mythos, this will be the first season of Avatar wherein the titular protagonist does not have the guidance and wisdom of their previous incarnations.
