Jaws has just had its 50th anniversary, and with it comes multiple ways to celebrate its history! For example, a re-release of the original NES game coming to both Nintendo Switch and Playstation!
The legacy that the original Jaws has left on the world cannot be understated. It shook up the world in 1975 with its tense atmosphere and unique brand of horror that remains effective even now. The visual of a Shark coming up from the depths to devour a swimmer is forever associated with movie, and remains a major part of cinematic history.
With the movie now reaching 50 years of age, there has been a push to celebrate the movie’s anniversary through a variety of different ways. Part of this celebration would come in the form of a Jaws game, but not a new one. Rather, this game would be the NES classic from the 80s, re-released and bundled with extra goodies.
A RETRO ROMP WITH THE GREAT WHITE
The original NES game of Jaws is an action game with arcade-like gameplay. You travel about the sea hunting after various sea creatures, empowering yourself with items and equipment. All of this culminates in a battle against the titular great white himself, who requires care and preparation to take down.
This re-release has two different physical editions available for purchase. The retro edition contains the game for either Playstation 5 or Nintendo Switch, and an 8 page booklet. However, for fans of either the original movie or game, you can instead go for the expansive Bigger Boat Edition.
This edition not only contains the game and booklet, but also multiple items for collectors and super fans. This includes decorative items like a keychain, a pixel art lamp, an enamel pin, and a box inspired by NES game boxes. You even get a CD with the game’s soundtrack, for fans who enjoy the retro tunes of the NES classic!
