James Gunn Has a Great Idea for a Moon Knight Movie
According to James Gunn, he has a great idea for a Moon Knight movie. However, would he actually do it? In response to a fan question on Twitter, James Gunn actually mentioned Moon Knight in the exchange. The fan asked if Gunn would consider putting Moon Knight in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Gunn responded thusly.
Oh my God I love Moon Knight & I have a great idea for a movie, I just wish I had the time (but, no, he doesn't belong in Guardians). https://t.co/ARJCPh62gt

It’s sort of a silly question. Moon Knight is not really a cosmic, space-faring character. Not to mention, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has already finished filming, so he wouldn’t be put in anyway. Not to mention, Gunn put it rather simply, “He doesn’t belong in Guardians.” That’s exactly right. However, it is interesting that Gunn talked about having a great idea for a Moon Knight movie.
Moon Knight is another Marvel hero who has some interesting facets. The character has been around since the 1970s, and there are aspects of him that he’s basically like Marvel’s version of Batman, except with a few twists. For starters, Moon Knight (aka Marc Spector) is way more unhinged and crazier than DC’s Dark Knight. Over the years, different writers have explored how Moon Knight is schizophrenic and borderline psychotic.
With that in mind, you would think that Moon Knight is better suited for a darker, TV-MA Netflix series instead of a lighter PG-13 movie. Gunn also said in response to another fan that he’s actually told Marvel Studios his pitch, but he added, “I just don’t have the time.” Whether that means Gunn would have more time after wrapping Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 remains to be seen.
There’s been rumors about Moon Knight possibly getting a Netflix series, but nothing has been confirmed or substantial. Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives on May 5.
I told them. But, like I said, I just don't have the time.
