Iris will have to wait a little longer to fall. Developer NEXT Studio has announced their anticipated puzzle exploration game Iris Fall will be released in December, not this month as originally planned. But to make up for the slight delay, they released a new gameplay trailer.

The titular Iris, modeled after Alice, falls into a strange and demented-looking place that isn’t exactly Wonderland. To find her way out she’ll have to solve the puzzles in each room. The art style in Iris Fall is very striking, especially for a 3D-rendered game…most games with environments this visually complex are rendered as 2D backgrounds.

In the unnamed world, light and shadow realms interact and affect each other. Iris has the ability to switch back and forth between light and shadow, and must consider the balance carefully when manipulating objects to solve each puzzle.

According to a rep from NEXT Studio, “[We] are committed to providing an immersive and gripping experience for the player. The extra time for the project will help us reach that goal. We want Iris Fall to be a release that lives up to both the standards of our players and our studio.”

Iris Fall shall fall onto Steam December 7, distributed by Zodiac Interactive.

After awakening from a dream, Iris follows a black cat into a dilapidated theater, traveling back and forth through a strange labyrinth of light and shadow. As the story unfolds, Iris begins to realize that everything in this theater seems to have some kind of hidden connection to herself.
