International Comic / Manga School Contest 2022 Opening Soon
Fancy yourself an artist, do you? A big chance to prove your worth is coming soon. The International Comic / Manga School Contest will be opening up entries for its 2022 competition next month.
Representatives in the creative field from all over the world will serve as judges: Clip Studio Paint, Wacon, Pixiv, Line Manga, manga publisher Kodansha, Japanese e-book store BookLive, and even Franco-Belgian comics publisher Dupuis, who barely has anything available in the English-speaking world (don’t get me started on the lack of translations for European comics…)
The grand prize winner will get $3,300, a shiny new Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 and three years of Clip Studio Paint EX. The only downside there is getting the subscription version of CSP instead of the one you can own and never have to pay for again.
Here are the categories:
■ Original comic, manga, bande dessinée categories
Original color comics, bande dessinée, or black-and-white/color manga of 8-32 pages aimed at all ages.
*Please select the category you would like to submit your entry to.
■ Original webtoon category (color)
An original webtoon for all ages (sized 800 x 40,000-144,000 pixels or a height ratio of 50 to 180 for an image 800 pixels or less when the width is set to 1).
■ Storyboard category
A 4-16 page manga, comic, or webtoon drawn according to the supplied storyboard text.
■ Illustration category
Original color illustration for all ages (no size restrictions).
You have plenty of time to cook something up. The 2022 International Comic / Manga School Contest opens submissions December 1 and doesn’t close them up until May.
