Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro Still Planning Gaming Project?
For a while, many fans were thrilled for the return of Silent Hill via a new game Silent Hills, which was going to be co-written by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro. Then the Konami breakup with Hideo Kojima happened, and the game was cancelled. Many gamer hearts were broken. However, there is still hope! Del Toro talked with IGN and said that a game collaboration with Kojima was still possible.
Del Toro stated, “I love working with Kojima-san. We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills].”
While he didn’t elaborate on what that project would be, or what we could expect, he did note some of the stuff he and Kojima were thinking of when doing Silent Hills:
“We were in the planning stages, and it’s a shame it’s not going to happen. We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head. One of the great moments in Metal Gear [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that.”
It goes without saying that these two writers could’ve made Silent Hills great, but it also goes without saying that if they put their minds to it, they could make a killer new IP. Let’s hope this collaboration goes farther than the last one did.
