Here’s The Doctor Strange 2 Super Bowl Trailer

NBC managed to squeeze the Superb Owl in between Olympics events yesterday, and it was packed with trailers…one of the most anticipated being the one for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Practically everything in the MCU lately has been building toward the subject of this movie — WandaVision, What If and Loki all laid the foundation for the multiverse to take shape, and now Stephen Strange has to deal with it.

If you’re wondering if any of the aforementioned shows are required viewing before seeing this….probably. We know from the trailer before this one that the movie will reference WandaVision and it may also contain the Evil Strange from a specific What If episode. But the new trailer hints at a special surprise guest that hasn’t appeared in any MCU movie or TV show before…try to listen for his voice as you watch this.

Did you hear it? It’s Patrick Stewart! Does this mean Strange visits the Fox X-Men Dimension and meets Professor X? Given the premise, it’s fully possible. The basic plot is Strange broke the mutliverse somehow and has to repair it, and enlists Scarlet Witch for help. We still don’t know the role she’ll ultimately play here — ally or antagonist? We would really prefer Wanda stayed good — she’s more interesting if she’s not a slightly sexist cliche. Please don’t give us a planet-destroying Dark Phoenix Wanda, Disney.

With Sam Raimi in control, and Danny Elfman handling the score, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness promises to be a Marvel movie unlike any other, including Doctor Strange 1. We expect some truly freaky stuff. The madness begins May 6.
