Heath Ledger Wanted To Come Back As The Joker
One of the reasons that The Dark Knight is praised as a film is not just because of Christian Bale as Batman, but because of Heath Ledger as The Joker. He gave a truly awe-inspiring performance, one that many call one of the best in comic book movie history. Sadly, just after he got done filming, he died in a very tragic way, leaving the world stunned.
A special documentary is coming out called I Am Heath Ledger, and during an interview, his sister talked about how much he loved The Joker role, and his plans for its future.
“He was so proud of what he had done in Batman. And I know he had plans for another Batman,” Kate Ledger shared with News.com.au. “He loved working with Chris Nolan and Christian Bale and Gary Oldman. He just had the best time ever doing that film.”
That’s very ironic, because a filmed scene was cut after Ledger’s death. It was of Joker meeting Dr. Harleen Quinzel, seemingly the start of their “Mad Love” relationship. Also, Joker didn’t die at the end of the film, he was very much alive, so a return was very possible.
Sadly, we’ll never get to see it happen.
