In case you missed the graphic on the main page. the fifth season of Harley Quinn officially began last week. Max is rolling its adult superhero cartoons out in an orderly manner, with the season premiere of Harley Quinn coming out just one week after the season finale of Creature Commandos…which makes one wonder what they’re going to do for the rest of the year, but I guess we’ll find out when we get that far.
The new episodes come with a change of scenery. After four seasons, Harley and Ivy have had it with Gotham. They’re leaving and heading to a place that hasn’t decayed into an urban hellzone (of their own making, mostly). Metropolis looks shiny, sunny, and unspoiled, so they make it their new home…unfortunately, they have the worst timing and picked the week that Brainiac chose to invade Earth.
The season will be released one episode at a time…though it’s typical for these shows to debut new seasons with more than one installment ready, they did no such thing this time — there are only 22 minutes of Harley Quinn S5 available currently. Having seen the episode, the gag about Metropolis being literally across the river from Gotham was pretty sharp, even if it makes no sense. No wonder Superman shows up so often.
Harley Quinn stars the returning voices of Kaley Cuoco as Harley, Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, James Adomian as Bane, Diedrich Bader as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Ron Funches as King Shark, Stephen Fry as Brainiac, Natalie Morales as Lois Lane, JB Smoove as Frank the Plant, Alan Tudyk as Clayface & Joker, and Aisha Tyler as Lena Luthor. The voice of Lex is not mentioned here; he has gone through several actors as of late (one couldn’t help it as he died).
The first episode of Harley Quinn’s fifth season premiered January 16. Another episode will premiere tomorrow and new episodes will follow weekly on Max.
