Halo 5 Free Update Gets Detailed
Some new details have been revealed for the upcoming free update for Halo 5: Guardians. 343 released a new weekly update with all sorts of details for the new expansion, Warzone Firefight, is set to launch on June 29. The expansion has gone through a number of changes since it’s April beta period.
One of the new features for the expansion that was added since the beta is a splash feed that will be displayed at the beginning of each round. It reveals the round number and what players need to do in order to succeed. Since it’s front and center, it comes in with a “splash.”
There will also be a mini-scoreboard at the bottom-right of the screen to showcase team progress toward current objectives in the games. 343 stated on this feature: “Depending on the goal, the scoreboard will look and act different in order to inform your squad as to how the round is shaping out. For instance, if the goal is to eliminate 100 Grunts, a red bar will fill from right to left as your team takes each one out. Or if, for example, your team needs to defend the Armory, a blue bar will slowly shrink from left to right as the enemy AI captures the base.”
Also, on how the personal score will stand out more for Warzone Firefight, 343 added: “We wanted to make personal score more obvious, and more fun. With that in mind, we’ve added a round-to-round scoreboard. During the intermission phase in between each round, we’ll post a report card of sorts that displays how you’ve done in the previous round. The scoreboard will show every point you’ve earned this round, as well as highlight any bonuses you’ve received for awesome play.
Warzone Firefight will feature six new maps, and players only had access to one during the Beta. Here are the new maps for the expansion:
- Escape from A.R.C.
- March on Stormbreak
- Raid on Apex 7
- Skirmish at Darkstar
- Urban
- Attack on Sanctum
This marks the eighth free expansion for Halo 5: Guardians. It will be available for free starting June 29. The free offer ends on July 5.
