Gwent, the card game from The Witcher series that spun off into its own separate game, is about to receive its second expansion. CD Projekt Red revealed a lot about it today….it’s an entire new set themed around Novigrad, the city from The Witcher 3.

The Novigrad expansion adds a new faction called The Syndicate. This faction is represented by over 90 cards and five new leaders from Novigrad’s criminal underworld. 15 cross-faction cards will also be introduced, which can be used in both Syndicate decks and any other faction in the game.

New abilities and mechanics introduce with the Novigrad expansion include Crowns, a battle resource that allows units with the Fee ability to “perform vile acts against the opponent” (CDPR isn’t specific here, so they must be truly nasty). The Crown ability can be replenished by putting a bounty on an enemy and then eliminating them. There’s also Crime, a new special card category that adds the ability Intimidate. CDPR promises more, but you’ll have to play to find out everything.

The best thing about Novigrad is that it will cost nothing. The expansion will be automatically added to all versions of Gwent when it goes live on June 28. Watch for it on Playstation 4, XBox One and PC.
