Goldeneye 007 Remaster Finally Given Release Date For Switch And XBox
Goldeneye 007 is one of the most classic and iconic games of the N64 era. Everyone had a copy back in the day, but despite the N64 library remaining popular, we’ve never seen the game officially released again. There’s an obvious reason for that: the game was a joint production between Nintendo, Rare and the owners of the Bond license. All three had to shake hands before the game could ever legally see the light of day again.
That day has finally arrived! Goldeneye 007 is coming to consoles within the week. This was announced months ago and we worried that Nintendo had changed their minds (yes, two others are involved, but it’s ALWAYS Nintendo). But a new trailer came out today and revealed a January 27 release for Switch and XBox.
Each version will have its own strengths. The XBox Goldeneye will have achievements, alternate control options and 4K resolution, while the Switch version will have online multiplayer (I’m sure online multiplayer would’ve been possible on the XBox, but Big N likely demanded something exclusive). The Switch version will be part of Nintendo Switch Online while the XBox version will be part of Game Pass and will be retroactively added to all copies of Rare Replay.
Bond suits up for action again this Friday.
