So much for trying something unique and different with an established license. They could have made a new protagonist and had them hack apart an entirely new pantheon in an entirely new and unique setting, but instead we get a full-fledged prequel game when we’ve already had 2 of them on the PSP.
All I can think about is how cool it’d be to smash Thor’s face in with a huge hammer, or to battle Anubis in the underworld, and then I look at this new trailer and weep the salty, impotent tears of a scorned fan.

Do u realize the reason why you received only dislikes for your comment? Because the way you quoted the comment from others who piss about the game already in the same way….

I didn’t quote anybody so I have no idea what you’re talking about or trying to infer. I stand by my opinion that the series needs a change. Kratos, though iconic, isn’t exactly the most interesting of characters.
In the original game Kratos had a reason to seek revenge. It was a Greek tragedy, and in the end what beat kratos and caused him to throw himself off a cliff in defeat wasn’t a monster or a God, but his guilt. The other games still had the amazing gameplay, visual design and cool interpretations of Greek myth that all the other games had, but Kratos totally lacked any true impetus. His motivations felt rather contrived, especially that he was a son of Zeus, which sort’ve ruined the whole idea of a mortal taking on the gods and winning.
At this point, when I think of God of War, I don’t just think about Kratos, but mainly about the overall theme of killing gods left and right. The series has had very little to do with Aries and I don’t think anyone out there really misses him all that much.
If the series changed mythologies then I’m sure we’d have lots of fans who would miss Kratos and I totally understand that. He is an iconic Sony character. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that well never see him again.
Now on the flipside, if Sony did go ahead and change the series up, we’d get an entirely new group of gods to see.and deal with, not to mention an entire mythology of new monsters to deal with. A new setting with all sorts of new architecture and culture.
But even if you don’t agree with me, how long can Kratos keep this up? He’s killed his way through so much mythology and so many gods that what is there left for him to do? Maybe next he’ll go on a quest of revenge against the goddess Hestia, the virgin goddess of the home and cooking for overcooking his steak. I’d rather see Kratos go out on a high point like God of War III than watch him and the franchise scrape the bottom of the barrel.

I agree that fans probably don’t want another God of War prequel. Really I wish they had truly ended with a good ending on 3, but it was left open with really nowhere else for the character to go.
Still I don’t think a new pantheon of gods with a new setting would work either. Honestly without Kratos, the focal point of the entire series, how do you make it work? At that point is it even God of War anymore?

I think he travels in time to fix his past… It says in the trailer it says… Where he would no longer be bound by blood… Meaning he was bound but won’t be.

Now that’s how one can be positive about something…

If you have a Playstation 3 and are into hack and slash titles then def. should play them. All of them are available on the Playstation 3 to with the Origin and HD collect + GOw3.

I found the series to be progressively worse imo (in terms of story- the gameplay is top quality but is essentially the same throughout the three games). I would have liked Santa Monica to do something different.
If you are getting into the series for the first time I highly recommend playing them in chronological order- the HD upgrade means they hold up pretty well and plus they have trophies too.

Oh look, Sony back to its usual milking of overhype and underdeliver. NO BUY!
wtfwtfwtf

So how do they under deliver? I don’t think anything will please you if you think Sony almost always under delivers when they are far better at making sequels and improving formulas then almost anyone else.

When other platforms/developers making a sequel to a franchise that sells like a hot cake, $ONY saints love to get highly mad and call it “milking the franchise”. Meanwhile, when $ONY making a sequel to a franchise then the saints love to call it a “win-win”,.. it’s a taboo for the saints to downplay their god $ONY, or otherwise they will stone you for being a “troll”
Talk about hating rivals, or hating competition to be exact. Very sensitive the saints it seems…because $ONY is losing a lot this generation compared to rivals, they know it and desperately put their madness/blame on other platforms.
The Hall of Shame of $ONY. No wonder the rest of world against it…

You are so dumb. Hardly anyone says Sony doesn’t “Milk”. The difference is that Sony doesn’t put out crappy sequels. So people may confuse “Milking” with putting out crappy sequels and not just for when developers release many of the same series.
When you go to any Sony-related ANYTHING there is almost always a generalizing idiot nicknaming Sony fans and saying they all are blind hypocrites. Who are you replying to? Who on here are you talking about? No one. You are talking about that invisible personality that everyone like you continually talks about and insults but there is no one really there for you to talk about. I see far more anti-Sony fanboy kids like you generalizing any Sony fan that defends anything Sony. When I see a Sony fan most of the time they don’t spit out bullcrap and exaggerated facts and personal opinions to try and argue with and they show no bias but still get replies but kids like you that overexaggerate everything and harshly insult them.
As for hall of shame what the hell are you talking about? You should be ashamed for continually writing such “flamebait” on the internet for no reason. Sony overall, before overhyped Kinect fail games anyways, had a higher amount of games sold on the PS3. The PS3 overall has better sales then the 360. The PS3 had to compete with the 360 and the Wii at the same time and still is right behind the 360. Without the 16 month head start the 360 probably would have nearly no support and would very likely be far behind the competition.
Whatever you have to say to try and challenge any of my argument you can’t disprove me. You can disagree but with reasoning and logic you will know I am right.
