Gears of War 4 Set to Launch Ahead of Schedule
Microsoft revealed that Gears of War 4 will launch ahead of its originally planned release schedule. At E3 2015 last June, Microsoft announced the title and said it was scheduled for a holiday 2016 release. Now, the the latest installment in the Gears of War franchise will launch in the fall instead of the winter. Gamespot reports that the tidbit was dropped during a recent livestream broadcast of the Gears of War Pro League Season 1 Finals.
In addition, the Gears of War 4 beta is scheduled to start later this spring. Gears of War Ultimate Edition players will get first crack at the beta version with their Ultimate Edition purchase. That means more than the one million players who bought the Gears of War Ultimate Edition get to play the beta session first.
According to the livestream session, Microsoft calculated that 45 percent of Gears of War Ultimate Edition players were actually new to the franchise. It looks like packing the Ultimate Edition with the Xbox One Black Friday bundle was a good move for Microsoft, since it turned on a lot of new players to the franchise. That also bodes well hopefully for the sales of Gears of War 4.
Gears of War 4 is due out later this year. The game will be available exclusively for Microsoft’s Xbox One console.
