Games Done Quick Announces Special Harvey Relief Marathon
Ordinarily, Games Done Quick only happens in January and July….but these are special circumstances. Tropical Storm Harvey wound up dumping trillions (with a T) of gallons of water over a major metropolitan city, disrupting the entire city of Houston and making over 30,000 instantly homeless. It’s one of the worst flooding events in US history. If there was ever a time to bring back the revenue-generating charity event, it’s now.
So they’ve answered the call! This weekend Twitch will broadcast Harvey Relief Done Quick, a special marathon event benefiting the Houston Food Bank. There’s no time to set up a hotel ballroom, so each streamer will be beaming in their playthroughs remotely. Exactly who will be in the event and what games they’ll be playing is still being determined at press time. In other words, the lineup is still open, so if you’re the thumb-twitcher who can pull off a marathon, there’s still time to prove it.
Harvey Relief Done Quick will run from Friday, Sept. 1 at 5 PM Pacific, 8 PM Eastern through Sunday, Sept. 3 at 5 PM Pacific, 8 PM Eastern. You’ll be able to watch it live throughout the weekend on the GDQ Twitch channel and donate in the process.
UPDATE: Here is the full list of playthroughs to be broadcast during HRDQ, starting with Battletoads and ending with Wario Land 4.
