In 2024, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will turn 50 years old. This chilling classic revolutionized the horror genre and spawned countless imitators. We’re sure there will be plenty of items to commemorate the occasion — maybe Gun Interactive will finally release that video game we keep hearing about. But even if they don’t, there will be another way to personally live the terror of encountering a backwoods family of cannibals.
Funko Games is preparing a new board game, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Slaughterhouse, for release this fall. It’s an asymmetrical survival game, not unlike Dead By Daylight and other video games, only translated to tabletop mechanics. One player assumes the role of Leatherface and the Sawyer family, while the others play travelers who are looking for a way to escape. There’s only one way to win — by surviving! (Unless you’re Leatherface, then you win by eating everyone else.)
It’s a one-vs-many fight for survival! One person plays as the deranged Sawyer family, dragging victims to their farmhouse and harvesting their meat for a grizzly barbecue. The other players are the unwitting trespassers, doing everything they can to escape a hideous fate. But in this game, there are no winners, there are only survivors. Will you make it out alive, or end up on the menu?
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Slaughterhouse supports two to five players, and will be released this September for $29.99.
