Free Comic Book Day 2023 Is Approaching: Here’s The Full List

It’s almost Free Comic Book Day! It’s the day the industry set aside to entice new readers by offering free editions of their comics. On this day (May 6, this year) you can simply walk into any comic shop and take something — although different rules will apply. Some shops put a limit on how many free comics you can take. It’s considered polite to buy something from the shop you get the free comics from; it’s the whole reason they’re doing this and they have to pay the distributor to give these “free” comics out.

2023’s FCBD comics come in two tiers. The first tier is the Gold Level. These comics are heavy hitters that are guaranteed to be at most shops — unless copies have run out.

• Boom! Studios – Ranger Academy
• Dark Horse Comics – Umbrella Academy/ The Witcher
• Dynamite Entertainment – Red Sonja: She-Devil With A Sword #0
• Graphix/ Scholastic – Dog Man And The League Of Misfits
• Idw Publishing – Star Trek
• Image Comics – Fishflies #1 FCBD 2023 Preview Edition
• Kodansha Comics – All Ages Gold Sampler
• Marvel Comics – Amazing Spider-Man/ Venom
• Marvel Comics – Avengers/ X-Men
• Titan Comics – Conan The Barbarian FCBD 2023 Special
• Viz Media – Choujin X/ Rooster Fighter

The second tier is the Silver Level. Many of these comics come from smaller publishers and might be harder to find — or they’re from Big Guys who consider them less important than their Gold offerings. You may have to check multiple comic shops to find them all.
