Lois Lane is a fictional character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, first appearing in Action Comics #1 in June 1938 alongside Superman. She is one of the earliest and most prominent female characters in American comics.
A Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, Lois is defined by her tenacity, intelligence, and refusal to back down from a story. She is Superman"s primary love interest and, in most continuities, eventually learns his secret identity and becomes his wife.
Lois has been adapted across every Superman media property, from the 1940s Fleischer cartoons to the modern DC Universe. In the 2025 film Superman, she is portrayed by Rachel Brosnahan.
