General Shannon Rogard is the U.S. Army officer who leads the military response in the 1999 animated film The Iron Giant, voiced by John Mahoney. Kent Mansley's reports bring him to Rockwell, Maine, where an initial search turns up nothing and leaves Rogard openly skeptical of Mansley's giant-robot story.
When the Giant is finally exposed, Rogard commands the attack on it, acting on Mansley's false claim that the robot killed Hogarth Hughes. Once the deception unravels he orders his forces to stand down. It is Mansley, not Rogard, who seizes the radio and orders the nuclear launch; Rogard is the one who points out the missile will fall on the town itself, and he has Mansley detained when the agent tries to flee.
In the film's epilogue, Rogard sends Dean McCoppin the single recovered piece of the Giant for Rockwell's memorial statue.
