As a result, I do not subscribe to either/or but suspect the truth to be somewhere in the middle. I can put MORE faith into science as long as the empirical evidence backs it up but as of now, the empirical data can not say definitively what's happened. We could've been peppered onto Primordial Earth (created by natural means) by a race of god-like creatures akin to the ST: TNG episode "The Chase." We're still learning as a species and I think the Scientific Method is the best way for us to learn about our origins as opposed to believing in texts that have been scribed, transcribed, copied, translated, re-translated, re-re-translated & was honestly written by Man, who is fallable. If there is an Almighty, I don't give any man or Man in general the ability to even contemplate what they've seen of the Almighty and his/her/it's doings & works. Those that say they speak with the Divine, can understand what he/she/it's saying and then demand you pay up and/or go against the basic teachings of said theology should be humiliated, annihilated, and removed from the Gene Pool..permanently.
I'm not sure if there is a Divine...you'd think they would've come down here by now to deal with their "petulant children"...but I'm not gonna rule it out just because of the lack of evidence. The phrase "There are more things in Heaven & Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your Philosophy" in Shakespeare's Hamlet would pretty much sum up my thinking. Perhaps it's the Baptist upbringing I survived and my current vacillation between Agnostic and Atheist (depending on my mood & personal anger at humanity) that makes me this way.
I don't know all the answers, no book(s) have all the answers, no Laws of Science has all the answers. That's what makes things so fascinating and the journey to seek out the knowledge so wonderful.
So...to answer the questions:
Evolution?: Until I see anything else, it's the best theory to explain our current development to this point in time.
Our origins?: Don't know for certain. A fluke of cosmic scale? Divine seeding? Flying Spaghetti Monster touched a primordial pool with His Noodly Appendage? Retarded space alien stop off to take a leak on the way to Betelgeuse? I don't know for certain...and that's better than anything I've seen as concrete proof.
Our Creation?: You mean if I think everything happened in 6 days? No. That's just a story for those who couldn't understand the Cycle of Life at the time. But it's said that to YHWH one day can be 10,000 years and vice versa - so there may be a grain of truth in the mountain of horse ****. The important thing is the search for the grain amidst the horse ****...and dealing with the flies that tell you "You have to take all the Horse **** or you're gonna Burn in Hell." Never believe anything at face value. Ask questions, & never stop asking...even if you KNOW you have the right answer. You'll never fully know, and that's what important.
