Shenmue II

My first import game.

The music and the camera gliding in to meet Ryo as he arrives in China. No game opening has met its match in giving me the feeling that I'm coming back home from a very long time away. Beautiful, subtle, and just loving. From the merchant at the dock wishing you good fortune, to the arm wrestling match... right to the QTE of you getting your bag stolen.

That's the best opening to a game I've ever experienced.

Other honorable mentions are Guaridan Heroes, Final Fantasy VIII, and the first video game that had me stand in absolute awe of it's glory...Final Fantasy VII.

Heh... I also know for sure I watched the opening movie to Skies of Arcadia more than once. This game made me proud to have a Dreamcast.

Hmm. I remember really liking the opening to "Devil May Cry 3". And I enjoy the opening to FFX2, though at first I was like, " WTF??"

First is definitely Onimusha 3. That whole fight sequence was brilliant. Next is probably Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Starfox 64 There's just something badass about watching the original four scramble like that.

vash, i'm with ya on sonic adventure and king of fighters.

as for me, bloody roar 2 was one. for it's time, the music and animation was sick, and made me feel like i wanted to fight.

jojo's bizarre adventure was another one that caught my eye. it made me feel like i was stepping into something long-standing and epic.

and then there's way of the samurai. it really puts you in the game.

and finally, an underrated great; wild arms 2. this is the game that popped my rpg cherry. while others were touching themselves to legend of dragoon and final fantasy VIII (no offense keith), i was blowing through the west with gunslingers, escaped prisoners, cyborgs and witches.

Kingdom Hearts 2 is the best I've seen.
But I'm also partial to the Golden Sun intro of "<Player Name> <Player Name> The Mount Aleph Boulder is falling!"

Call me old school, but every time I see the Magitek Armors walking towards Narshe at the beginning of FF6, I get chills.

I dunno... maybe I'm not playing the right newer games. XD
