Will little boys will watch a main female Kamen Rider show?

There are crap loads of TF rollplay toys. Just do a google search.
Sorry I worded that badly. Yes there have been loads since the live-action films started coming out. But there were also a few back in the G1 days, which is what I had linked to.

I know I will, especially if it's played by Erina Nakayama (中山 絵梨奈) who plays Misa / Mayu in Wizard. She really is a great actress who brought a lot of humanity to the show. Plus she's also gorgeous-looking which is a plus. ;)

Anyways it's a moot point because we all know Toei would never take that risk. I would like to see a female as a secondary Rider though, because Mayu has shown that having a female Rider for more than one episode can work.

This, unfortunately. Adults always assume that boys won't watch a show because it's "girly" and vice versa. Yet, when I was growing up, some of the biggest Sailor Moon fans I knew were boys (one of whom owned a few of the toys.) I was also heavily into Dragon Ball around the same time and would frequently draw characters for my friends at school.

Perhaps we were just freaks of nature, but I'd like to think that boys and girls aren't really SO different.

Well, look at some of the comments on discussions about the lack of female characters in Kyoryuger: "but it's a BOYS' show! It doesn't need more WOMEN!" So it's OK to show little boys fights and monsters and blood but not to show them women in action, that's just too scary for them? In the real world, they have to interact with women. They're not prepared for that by gender-segregated shows that teach them that the opposite sex is this mysterious anomaly.

My response to the question posed in the thread title would be "no, they won't watch it, because Toei isn't going to make one." But one way to increase the number of female Riders and still sell roleplay toys would be to use more suits like Mage's, rather than obviously "girly" designs like Kivaala's or Nadeshiko's. I know Bandai sells certain things like backpacks and hoodies based on female Yellow Rangers but not the Pink ...

Keep in mind, it's not little boys saying those things. It's what I presume are grown men, which makes it all the more unsettling.

Also, you do bring up an interesting point. It is a bit difficult for boys to watch something with a female hero when the general attitude is "NO, DON'T EVEN TRY IT."

And...not even backpacks and hoodies for little girls?

Well if franchises like Final Fantasy can have a lead main female role then I'm pretty sure Kamen Rider can have a female main role. Boys like Final Fantasy as well.

The FF fans you refer to tend to be pubescent horn dogs who are impressed by that game's jiggle-mechanics. :redface2:

Whereas Kamen Rider's key demo still thinks girls are gross and weird.
