Wicked: For Good First Look Teases Dorothy, Weddings, and Deep Wounds

Never watched the Broadway musical but I liked the first movie, and this one seems like it’s going to be deeper and maybe sadder. That’s okay with me. I want to understand more about how the characters became who they are in The Wizard of Oz. Elphaba living in exile and still trying to protect the Animals makes her a stronger character to me. She didn’t give up. Glinda looks like she’s stuck in a role she didn’t fully choose, and I think a lot of people can relate to that. It’s good that the movie is not trying to be exactly like the stage play. I want something new, and it sounds like they are adding more emotional moments, new characters, and maybe a clearer reason for how Dorothy gets involved. I’m going to watch it for sure.

I really hope Wicked: For Good becomes a big hit, not just for the story itself, but because I’m crossing my fingers that it opens the door for a Son of a Witch adaptation. That book meant a lot to me. It’s darker and more complex, but it continues the emotional journey in such a meaningful way. Liir’s character struggles with identity, purpose, and living in the shadow of Elphaba. It’s not a flashy story, but it has so much heart. If the audience shows strong support for this sequel, maybe the studios will realize there’s interest in exploring that next chapter. We don’t get many fantasy stories that are both emotional and political like this one. I think there’s a place for Liir’s story on screen—especially if it’s handled with the same care. So yes, I’m watching this movie on opening weekend and bringing friends too. Maybe if it performs well enough, we’ll finally see Son of a Witch come to life.

Okay, I can’t be the only one who screamed when I saw the Dorothy dolls, right? That basically confirms she’s in it! And I’m so ready. Wicked’s first movie already gave us such iconic visuals, and now we’re adding more characters, more history, and more heartbreak. I live for drama, and the idea of Glinda planning a wedding while missing her best friend is the kind of emotional content I crave. Plus, Bowen Yang as one of the assistants? I know that’s going to add some fun moments too. I'm glad Jon M. Chu is still directing—he really understands how to make musicals feel modern but still magical. November can’t come fast enough.

I’m really hoping they release a separate sing-along version of Wicked: For Good. The first film had such amazing songs, and I still catch myself singing “Popular” in the shower! With Stephen Schwartz back and a brand-new original song included, I know the music in this sequel will be just as strong, maybe even better. A sing-along version would be perfect for fans like me who love to fully experience the musical side of these movies. It would also be great for families and younger viewers who want to join in. Honestly, musicals feel even more powerful when you’re allowed to sing with them instead of just watching. Plus, it would be fun to go with friends, dress up a little, and turn it into a full experience. I know some people might think it’s silly, but I think it makes these kinds of films more memorable and joyful. So please, Universal—give us a sing-along edition! I’d be first in line.

I’ve always read Elphaba and Glinda’s relationship as more than just friendship. Seeing them drift apart and then struggle to reconnect feels incredibly real. That kind of intense bond—and the pain when it changes—hits close to home. I love that the movie is willing to explore the distance between them without rushing a happy ending. There’s something beautiful about showing love that doesn’t fit inside a neat box. Also, Elphaba choosing to stay true to her cause, even while isolated, makes her even more admirable. I’ll definitely be watching this one, not just for the story, but because it feels personal in a way I didn’t expect.

I only watched Wicked because my mom made me, but I actually liked it a lot. The second movie looks more serious, and I’m curious what they do with Dorothy. I’ve always wondered why she wasn’t in the first one. It’s cool that they’re showing how the Tin Man and Lion became who they are too. I think it’s sad that Glinda and Elphaba are not close anymore, but maybe that’s how life goes. People change. I hope they fix things in the end. I’ll watch it for sure, especially if the music is good.

What I’m most excited about—more than the plot twists or even Dorothy’s possible appearance—is the brand-new original song written just for Wicked: For Good. As someone who fell in love with the Broadway soundtrack years ago, hearing there's a new song not included in the original musical gives me chills. Stephen Schwartz is one of the best at writing lyrics that stay in your head and heart. And now, with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo performing it, I just know it's going to be something special. I'm really curious about where the song fits into the story. Will it be a solo moment for Elphaba? A duet with Glinda before they part ways again? A group number during the wedding scene? The possibilities make me impatient to see the movie already. I also hope the song isn’t just filler. I want it to say something honest about the characters—maybe about how much they’ve lost or what they still hope for. Songs in musicals don’t just entertain; they reveal what people are too scared to say out loud. I hope this one hits emotionally and becomes just as iconic as “Defying Gravity.”

This sequel is clearly a high-stakes project for Universal. After making over $750 million on the first film, the pressure is intense.

What excites me most is how this sequel seems to continue giving complex roles to women. Glinda and Elphaba are not just good or bad—they’re layered, flawed, and evolving. We rarely see female characters allowed to change this much on screen, especially in musicals. The story doesn’t punish them for ambition or emotion, and that matters. Glinda struggling with fame and Elphaba refusing to compromise her values—it’s a reminder that women are more than just love interests or sidekicks. I hope Wicked: For Good keeps pushing this idea forward.
