It's called "Professionalism". Just because it's being done by Fans, doesn't mean you can't act like children about every aspect of a release. Am I personal my personal views on you? Perhaps, but this is coming from someone who wants to get into fansubbing. I'd rather do respectable work, then go all wily-nilly with everything because "You don't own the license, and you're going to slow."
I want to sub because through my experiments with subbing, I found it to be an enjoyable experience and there are a couple of Tokusastu that I just want to sub.
And for the continuation debate, When different groups pick up where another left off, like say Naruto, That's the only reasonable way I see the continuation working, for asking a group to go back to square one, especially when it's licensed to sub the whole series is Insane. But Tokusastu works different than Anime because well, A series only last from 26/48-52 Episodes at the most now a days, and only runs for a year. Plus there is a great deal of Tokusastu that has been finished that hasn't even been subbed. In those case I don't see it as unreasonable to start from scratch at episode one. (Especially those shorter episode number shows like Lion Maru G and Garo).
EDIT: Okay in hindsight the Continuation thing is kinda silly, and more of a personal taste than a truth. Past efforts with Boukenger kinda made me frown apon it.
