Why Do We Love KDrama Clichés?

I was rewatching "Boys Over Flowers" (the OG classic, y'all 🙌) the other day, and it got me thinking, why do we keep coming back to those classic KDrama clichés? You know what I'm talking about: the rich boy falling for the "common" girl, the love triangle that somehow spirals into absolute chaos, or even the obligatory rain-soaked confession scene.

These tropes might be seen as tired by some, but honestly, they've got charm! I mean, who doesn't get giddy at the thought of a love story that's destined to have those ups and downs? It's like comfort food for the soul. And let's be real, the visual storytelling in these moments always hits just right, aesthetic cinematography, sweet OSTs setting the mood, and those emotional cliffhangers.

What's your favorite cliché that you just can't resist? Or are there any that you think have been done too much? I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially if you have any hot takes on recent dramas that played with these clichés!

The rich boy/poor girl trope in "Boys Over Flowers" is like the ultimate comfort zone for K-drama lovers! 😍 It's so satisfying to see the tension build in those love triangles, especially when the second lead is just so perfect but never gets the girl. Talk about heartbreak! I'll never get over how dramatic those rain-soaked confession scenes are, like, who doesn't love a good emotional showdown?

As for clichés that feel overdone, I'm kind of tired of the "amnesia" plotline. I mean, come on, can we think of something else? But honestly, I still eat up every rom-com moment regardless, especially when the cinematography is on point! What's your go-to scene that always makes you swoon?
