Which series should I watch before watching Ultraman Mebius?

I know but I'll take each and every chance I can now to recommend Ultraman Tiga.

Which Ultraman series have been subbed by reliable groups??

Mebius.

Ultraman has dvds out with subs that you can find dirt cheap, and HnT has the first 6 episodes of Ultraseven subbed.

Unrelated to mebius there's Nexus and UltrasevenX subbed by TVN, and the first half of Max was subbed by a group that is no longer around.

That's all I got off the top of my head.

If I can just throw in my two cents.

You can start watchcing Mebius because there at the beginning there is very little reference to past Ultraman shows (other than "Oh look it's [fill in name of already-existing monster] I remember him."). However, towards the later half of the series (like around episode 30 or so) they start bringing up specifics of past Ultraman shows. I say start watching up to episode 23, then go do a previous Ultraman show, then continue watching.

However, the original Ultraman and Ultraman Tiga are currently the only American licensed Ultraman shows released and all the others are very hard to come by.

On a side note, the Australian "Ultraman: Towards the Future" (a.k.a. Ultraman Great) is now on Hulu.
