Which Lesser-Known Directors Deserve More Recognition?

I've been diving deep into film history lately and I'm really intrigued by directors who might not get the mainstream spotlight they deserve. I've loved the works of filmmakers like Kelly Reichardt and Lynne Ramsay, but I want to expand my horizons. Who are some lesser-known directors that have produced standout films worth checking out? Any specific recommendations?

I totally get the love for Kelly Reichardt; her minimalist storytelling in films like Certain Women really captures the nuances of everyday life. On the other hand, while I appreciate Lynne Ramsay's style, her film You Were Never Really Here just felt a bit too heavy for me. For lesser-known directors, I'd suggest checking out Julia Ducournau, especially Raw, it's bold and unsettling in such a unique way!
