What'd You Watch Last Week? 9/3 - 9/10

What all Toku did you jam on this past week?

Myself.. I got in one more episode of Boukenger... the one where BoukenYerrow thought she found her sister... nice performances.

And I powered through a good two volumes of Kamen Rider Agito and got 1 and a half volumes to go... and then what looks like some movies and specials. Sawaki... Tetsuya... now I understand why whoever snagged that name uses it. The story of Agito is fantastic!

GREAT concept as to where the struggle comes from and a must see.

It's neck and neck, but I'll have to see the end of both to decide if I like Agito or Kabuto better.

I'm thinking Kabuto... I've still seen more and better character development out of Kabuto, though Agito's story is fucking ballsnasty.

What've you been watching?

Try not to drop any spoilers.

I've watched TVN's most recent Boukenger subs (24 and 25). 24 was quite a fun ep to watch (another Yellow focus btw) and 25 was good too, albeit for completely different reasons.

I also just watched the raw of Task 28 and as a fan of Bouken's mecha, it's one of my favourite eps of the season so far. I had a big dumb grin on my face for pretty much the whole episode.

I saw Kabuto 32 (raw) yesterday too and it was pretty interesting too.

Been catching up on the Ryukendo subs, episode 18 I think, when Ryujinou finds out what really happened to his parents. The ending was a nice touch with all the spirits going into the sky.

Also, I just got done with episode 25 of Boukenger. Definitely my new favorite episode, which used to be episode 10. It took the "monster turns good" storyline and actually made it good. I got a little misty at the end of it.

In raws, I watched Mebius 23 and Kabuto 32.

Ehh...depends. It's not really a serious show and the hero is a power whore, but it's kinda cool watching him get different power ups. Plus, it's always cool when their morphers have their own personalities. It's more comedy than anything else though, but it does it well enough.

Nothing, cause my computer got a virus(gee, on the first week of school too). I was watching Justiriser and Sh15uya but due to some difficulties, I will just check in that later.

Now i'm watching Ryukendo and Power Rangers Time Force from RSW.

I made it through episodes 5-7 of Shaider. Still on volume one 'cause the fucking thing keeps freezing. Shaider's a really fun series though. Nice fights, a useful(!) female character (who gives us lots of panty shots :anime:), and very cool monster designs. Still, it lacks a little in the story department with your standard Toku premise and pretty much everyone's cards on the table from episode one. I'm hoping volume 2 and beyond (whenever I decide to watch it--right now I'm watching the GTO J-Dorama--which PWNS--all GTO anime/manga fans NEED to watch it) will offer character development on the sides of the heroes, if not the villains too.

This week I hope to watch some Gransazer, as well as watch the first five episodes of Changeman with the girlfriend(s). The week after, I hope to have recieved Maskman in the mail so I can start that. :buttrock: :buttrock:

Edit: Oh yeah. This weekend, after working my ass off to get them (56k sucks ass...), I watched Kabuto 28 and 29. 29....WTF. Both Kagami and his dad floating around like fairies....and 30 looks to continue the insanity. Oh well. 28 was solid. 4-on-1 Rider Battle? You just KNEW that would end in a curbstomp. Personally I'm still waiting on the first battle royale between all 5 Riders. It BETTER happen.

This week in Tokuwatching.

Hello. I'm mattcomics. First time poster here and thought I would throw in on this one if that's alright.

This week I've been alternating between Kamen Rider Kabuto and Faiz. I'm up to around episode 32 in Faiz and 31 in Kabuto.

Kabuto I had actually dropped for a time because I really didn't like the change in directing style and tone that came with Drakes entrance even though I liked Gon alot. The idea of a Rider who travels with a child is a cool one because it harkens back to the days of the Kamen Riders being friends to all children like V3. I picked the show back up again because I'm still intrested in the main plot and I feel like the action is very well done and distributed throughout a given episode. I have to admit I feel like that the shows obsession with cookery kind of swallows it whole sometimes. I like Yakitate Japan and Iron Chef as much as the next guy but sometimes I half-way expect Bobby Flay to show up as a Worm to battle out with a Hopper Zector weilding Alton Brown.

Faiz is a series kind of the same as Kabuto where I find myself enjoying even when I'm having problems with the story or certain ideas in it. Faiz is a flawed beast of a series but I like the suit designs, fights, and Takumis character. His moment of realization in episode 17 (?) is so far my favorite moment in the series. Some of the plotline I already know going into it and I'm not big on Riders also being monsters to. Besides, does one character really need two totally different kinds of superpowers at once? So far I'm kinda liking the movie better but then again that might be because Kusaka get's dusted so quickly there. Or could be that the movie is just a bit more straight foward and to the point. Though the thing with Takumis memory and the huge Smart Brain critter are kinda wtf.

Be careful of spoilers in this thread. Lotta people just watch the TVN subs and don't want future episodes to be spoiled.

Mostly in these threads we can drop what we've been watching and some impressions.

Btw... welcome to the team, Matt. ^__-
