What should I get for PS2/PS3?

Pony, please.
My uncle's sending his PS3 over, along with a few games. I've already got a PS2 but a bit limited on games.

Any recommendations? I have a decent list of what to get for PS2 so I'm mostly looking for current-gen stuff.
 
Just PS2 recommendations your asking or for PS3 too?

For PS3, I highly recommand InFamous. You get to play a guy with electrical powers & you decide if you want to be a good guy or be evil. Not to mention it has a good story too.
 
I don't know what you already have but here are some of my favorites:


PS2-

God of War. Great monster-smashing fun.

Zone of Enders (the second one if you can find it). Giant mech combat as an art form.

Destroy All Humans 2- great fun & hilarious.

Katamari- supremely addictive.

The Punisher- gruesome shooter.


Not too sure about PS3 titles but I've heard several good things about InFamous, Ghostbusters, Prototype & Uncharted.
 
As far as exclusives go, Uncharted is (for me at least) a must have for the PS3 if you like action games, and with Uncharted 2 on it's way it helps to get caught up on the back story. Infamous is good too but once you beat it in both the good and evil path, it really lacks the replay value. I may go back to it in a year, but I'm in no rush. Kill Zone and Resistance 2 are both solid FPS games with a great online following if you like multiplayer. Resistance: Fall of Man is decent too, and has the advantage fo being a budget title. Little Big planet if you like platformers, you'll literally never get bored of it since there are new levels released every day. Really though it all depends on what genre of games you like. I can narrow down afew solid titles from the genre for you, as long as it isn't sports.. because then all you'll get from me is Fifa 09 and eventually Fifa 10

Either/or, mostly PS3.

Thanks everyone. I do like shooters, and what I've played of LBP was good, so I'm definitely getting those.
unmei, if you want genres, I prefer FPS and RPGs. Fighting games are fine too, I've heard good things about BlazBlue and the like. I'm not a sports fan though.
 

For FPS titles for PS3 (Exclusive or otherwise) You can't go wrong with BioShock, Resistance 2 or Killzone 2, Bioshock suffers a little from a lack of multiplayer, but the single player game more than makes up for it. Warhawk is pretty good for online play (that's all you'll get from it) but it suffers in the fact that you have to pay for the expansions (3 of them which is reasonably priced at 14 for the lot i believe), and most of the regular players are playing on the expansions. The Orange Box is a great series of games from the Halflife universe, but sadly the PS3 version isn't as good as the 360 or PC versions. Also with MAG coming out in early 2010, that looks to be a pretty promising game as a 256 player online FPS, it looks like it can get pretty insane from the videos.

I still can't recommend Uncharted enough though. BlazBlue is solid, and I find it plays better on the ps3 than 360, but I have a feeling that the community is going to die down for a bit on Thursday once everyone picks up MvC2... I already have a few matches of that scheduled with my BB rivals. Same with the SFIV community.

There are some pretty fun PSN titles too. Check out the PSN user IDs thread to get an idea of the online games most of the regulars have, if any of them interest you, get it and set something up with us. We having had a really good gameday since Metal Gear Online.
