What exactly was bad about Ohranger?

I don't think their designs are any crazier than sentai in the 70's and 80's

The only group of regular villains from a '70s or '80s show with designs that match the terrible Baranoia is the Kurojuu-Jigun of Goranger. Although I find it easier to forgive Goranger since it was the first series. Otherwise, it's just mostly monsters of the week from the '70s or early '80s that have weak designs. But once Yutaka Izubuchi stepped in with Dynaman, monster and villain designs greatly improved.

One of the problems with Baranoia is that they're like a collective of the one cute or comedic villain that can usually be found in each show. They don't look the least bit frightening and don't reflect the danger of the actual characters. Imagine a villain group consisting of Maskman's Okerampa as leader, Fiveman's Dongoros as his wife, Liveman's Butchy, with Bioman's Peebo as their assistant -- but that they all had the personality of mass murderers. The Baranoia designs weren't even THAT good, they barely qualified as a monster of the week of a lesser metal hero show.

Which murderous robot looks more intimidating? Which suit design is better?

The eye can not even process the nasty barrage of colors and pinball machine parts that they made the Baranoia suits from. If that wasn't enough, the voice performers felt like they should be doing their cutesiest anime voice.

Dude, you need to read a history book. The most evil empire in history did not look evil in the slightest. They were the British Royal Family. They conquered and raped countries all over the world without looking like Nazi storm troopers

this is the face of the person who conquered the world. Do you note any simiarity?

I actually thought the designs weren't bad. Aside from Bomber, Karis and Buldont v.1 anyway. What I didn't like about the villains was there was nothing really special to hate about them, or maybe relate to. They just weren't that memorable.

Not sure what history books you read, but in mine there is nowhere near a consensus that the Tudors were an "evil" empire.

Your comparison doesn't hold much water. It stinks of revisionist history. Also, the painting you posted depicts Elizabeth as a human dressed fashionably -- at the height of fashion for the time, in fact. A far cry from a dog robot built by the ancient Egyptians.

I can't believe I, an American, have to defend one of Britain's greatest queens! Are there no Brits here offended by this post?

Dude, if you can't handle a biography of Elizabeth I and learn about her many accomplishments, may I suggest the Wikipedia article? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_I

...I don't know where to start, but I think I'd like to begin with the fact that Black Fang has a better sense of humor

Brits wont be offended by that post because they know they were running an empire. It was the British Empire. They really did take over the world for the most part. I used hyperbole in context to point out what they were baranoia on. If you can't seem to grasp that, I can't help you there.

As for smacking of revolutionist propoganda... I really don't care. I'm only offended that you said it really. As an American, as you so claim, you should also be able to see similar veins of similarity to the Bush Administration, considering they tried starting their own empire.

I have nothing against Elizabeth the first, but she did start an empire; like the Baranoia want to. she was dressed in clothes that resemble the Baranoia in many ways (or visa versa).

Toned down for you, I will make it obvious. The Baranoia are an oligarchical family intent on spreading their empire, but with personalities made cartoon enough to fit into a show like Ohranger, where you clearly need a sense of good and evil.
