What Anime Series Have the Richest Lore and World-Building?

[San Goku]

I've been watching a lot of anime lately and I'm really fascinated by series that have deep lore and complex world-building. I'm especially interested in stories that create detailed universes with unique rules, history, and cultures. Could you recommend some anime that excel in this aspect? I'm eager to explore worlds that feel truly immersive!

One series that comes to mind is Attack on Titan. The world-building is so rich, from the history of the Titans to the complex political systems that emerge as the story progresses. I love how the lore unfolds gradually, giving you more to think about with each season.

Another gem with incredible depth is Made in Abyss. The way it constructs its own ecosystem, complete with layers of lore tied to the Abyss itself, is hauntingly beautiful. The emotional stakes and the rules of exploring the Abyss really pull you in.

I'm curious, what aspects of lore and world-building resonate with you the most? Do you prefer a more historical approach, like in Vinland Saga, or something more fantastical like Re:Zero?
