Weird thing happened after PSP Update Firmware...

Hello... I wanted to share something that happened on my PSP and I hope someone can offer some explanations.

Okay here it is:

I just recently updated my PSP software to version 3.71 M33-2, then the changes occur like scene selection in videos and stuff. Then suddenly I realized that I'm pressing the X button to enter an option rather than the O button, and when I turned it off and turned it on again, for the first time the "Sony Computer Entertainment" logo appeared.:O_O:

When months ago when I asked why does my PSP has a O button function rather than the X button, and why doesn't the "Sony Computer Entertainment" logo appear after turning on the PSP console is that my PSP is "Made from Japan" or something like that. While my friend's PSP has the X button function and the logo, and therefore "Made in America".

So when the update took effect... the weird changes (or unless an explanation tells whether its normal or not) appear.

So, are there any explanations for this? Thank you anyways.. :)

Yeah I'm having a simular problem, only when I hit "X" It says "Could not find 1.50 PHP" even though I followed the steps correctly

IT appears sir, that you have a Japanese PSP. Mine does this.

Or you could have possibly updated to a Japanese firmwear?

Well actually the situation looks like this...

Before:
O button: selection
X button: exit/back
Opening Intro of "Sony Entertainment America": None
Diagnosed as: Japanese PSP

After:
O button: exit/back
X button: selection
Opening Intro of "Sony Entertainment America": Available
Diagnosed as: American PSP (I think):sly:

Maybe or so that the firmware is "American"... The question is... Is this bad?
Thanks again!

Hmm.. I'm not really sure what the "problem" is, but you can change things back to the way they were by turning off your PSP, then hold down R as you turn it on. That'll take you to the recovery menu where you can turn the Sony logo on or off and switch the X and O buttons back to where they were.

Oooh...:O_O: Now this is what happens when I don't tinker my PSP around enough.:sweat:

But I remember what my friend told me to never touch recovery mode, because something bad might happen. But sure, even if this will revert back things to normal (or not), I'd stick with his advice about not touching it. So I'll just leave it as is. Thanks anyways! :thumbs:

But... About the "Japanese" or "American" PSP, if you could just configure stuff like the buttons... How would you really distinguish the one Made in Japan or not? :eyebrow:

In recovery mode:
Configuration -> Skip Sony logo

Registry Hacks -> Button assign

You can change those and it won't break anything, just in general don't mess with anything that says "flash"
