Was Waterworld That Bad....???

I loved it. I remember when my friends and I saw it, we were confused.. we heard so many bad things about it, that we thought it had come and gone from the theater. Then we saw it and were like, "Ummmm.... that was awesome. What the hell?" :sly:

That movie was damned before it even came out.

This was the very first movie I watched in the theater, and at the time, I did enjoy it. Though several years afterward, I watched it again and I didn't enjoy it as much. I think The Postman kind of made me re-evaluate what I thought about Kevin Costner movies.

Though I still like Robin Hood.

I haven't seen the film in years (or remember it quite well, either) so I can't really give much of an opinion on it, though I doubt it's as bad as they say.

Supposedly it was kind of an "Avatar that flopped," so to speak. Huge budget, and tons of hype, but it didn't live up to it's claims (according to critics anyway), and apparently people were "getting sick of Kevin Costner appearing in so many films in recent memory". Then there is always the group that felt the whole "Global Warming plot" was too "preachy/"non-scientifically based" for it to be considered a "good movie." Also the special effects didn't turn out so "astoundingly great" (which was originally a selling point), mainly due to the fact that a hurricane ripped apart a number of sets during filming. Or so I've heard anyways.

A few things I never got about the movie...

1 They could make drinkable "water or what have you" out of pee but not there own water all around them?.. LOL!

2 Why he was feared for being a "mutant" I'd think in a water world being able to breath under water would be a HUGE + for people!

Urine is actually fairly sanitary (or so the books say - try it and let me know), and is much easier to purify and make drinkable than salt water. Just 'cause it's water doesn't mean you can drink it.
