I have mixed feelings about this news. On one hand, Andy Serkis's portrayal of Gollum was iconic, and I'm curious to see what direction he takes with the character. On the other hand, I'm wary of any additions to Tolkien's lore that aren't directly from his writings. I'll approach this movie with cautious optimism and hope that it honors the source material.
