Video game being addictive

Video games can be additive. For certain people, they definitely are addictive. Although for many people it is easy to walk away from a game, other people find it more difficult. I wouldn't consider myself an addict, but I do border it sometimes.

It would be non sense if an person gives up his eat and sleep for game, I could consider that as self torturing..
It's not really self torturing. When playing games, it can be quite easy to forget to eat or sleep. For example, I started playing a game at 8 am this morning. It wasn't until about half an hour ago (midnight) that I realized something. I haven't eaten yet today. Oops. Although I was very into the game I was playing, my dog decided that if I didn't let him outside, he was going to eat my hair. If it wasn't for him I probably would have kept playing until tomorrow morning. Lol. Sometimes it just happens and the person won't notice.

Point being: Video games can be addicting. Some people can walk away whenever. Some people waste an entire day like I did. Some people waste even longer amounts of time. I've met someone who lost a job because he called off "sick" too many times. Rather than being sick, he was playing games. I've met someone else who was fired for being too distracted and not getting his job done. He spent multiple nights in a row without sleep to play a game.

Sure, it might be harder to become an addict when you only play games that come to an end. I think MMO's are a lot easier to become addicted to though. They never really end, and even when you get to the point where you think you are done: a new patch comes out.

Yeah they can be addictive, for me, in the sense that I can play it for hours on end and really enjoy it. Would I have any major issues if I were to stop play for any reason? No.

I think they can, my sister's boyfriend will literally play video games for 15 hours a day and refuses to do anything else. I'd say they can be addicting.

Video games can be addictive, you just have to be careful. Always have something else going on in your life when playing a video game. Playing too much can suck you in.

I don't think it's an addiction as such - it's just that I often can't stop playing until I've unlocked something or gone up to the next level or whatever. Games just demand the whole of my immediate attention when I'm playing but I don't play every day.
