Sony revealed
the official subtitle for Venom 2 this morning. We’ll only reveal it to you if you promise not to laugh. Ready? “Let There Be Carnage.” Hey, you broke the promise!
The title is an obvious nod to Venom’s archenemy Carnage, who we have always known would be in the sequel because his human host, Cletus Kasady, appeared in the credits scene of the first film. Originally, Venom was introduced as a villain for Spider-Man, but the character proved so popular that he was given his own book and made a hero himself. This left a job opening for another supervillain, so Kasady got ahold of his own symbiote and filled out the role of Carnage.
Sony revealed one more thing about Venom 2 today: its release date. Until now it’s been assumed to be October 2, 2020, but we can’t really assume that anything is coming out in 2020 anymore, so it’s been moved down to June 25, 2021. It’s the most recent...
