Valkyrie Profile Revisited

Ragna "D" BloodEdge

By the Power of Gaia!!!
Square-Enix just announced announced a remake and a sequel to one of the best RPG's in the company's history(and a personal favorite of mine)--Valkyrie Profile. I'm guessing a lot of you guys have never heard of it since it was released back in 2000, and it's become one of the most rare and sought-after PS games out there now, but the remake--called Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for the PSP is a remake of the original game itself with a few extras, and the sequel/prequel, Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria for the PS2 takes place thousands of years before the original game and focuses on Silmeria, Lenneth's sister.

Not a lot of details on either yet, but the Japanese site is up now:

While I've never had the pleasure of playing it myself (I do have an ISO copy lying around here somewhere, but I'm too lazy to set my system up for ePSXe after the crash) I have heard repeatedly that its a good game, and I always wanted to buy it. My girlfriend in fact, loved it. I may buy VP2, but...first on my list is Phantasy Star Universe. :D

I love that some of the cooler games from the old days are getting sequels. Now all I need is a sequel to Suikoden 1 and 2 (that DOESN'T suck), and a sequel to Lunar. (That again, doesn't suck.)

i have VP, but i never beat it i remember gettin tired of finding people who need to be saved or somethin like that but the battle system was pretty fun.

I didn't find Valkyrie Profile to be that good of a game. I recall it had horribly clunky controls, down right pitiful voice acting and a rather uninformative manual. Sadly, I bought it way back when based on the "great" reviews it got (Probably the beginning of the end for my trust in "professional" reviews). I've been meaning to sell it on Ebay one of these days.

I've still got my original Prima strategy guide for the game and I loved the game when it first came out... Still even have my saves for it. [Wonders how much he can get for the strategy guide on eBay...]
