Tsuburaya wins chayo Thailand... Chayo Fail!

Thanks to both of you, ryuuseipro and Aoi Kurenai!

Aoi, that represents a major change in Tsuburaya's attitude. I seem to recall that when they let FoxKids have Tiga, they absolutely forbade any cutting out the scenes with the Japanese cast, and replacing them with local actors, ie., Power Rangers. Instead, FoxKids had to do a lot of voice dubbing, and probably some scene cutting and rearrangement to make it work. Worked out fine, for the most part. I'm still not sure, to this day, what exactly went wrong with Tiga's US showings ...

Two words: Ninja Turtles.

Would y'all care to elaborate just a little bit more here, please? Especially on the sh!t dub thing?

My guess on the Ninja Turtles thing is that Fox Box kept changing Tiga's schedule in favor TMNT.

on the **** dub thing, the whole thing was treated like a huge joke, they didn't take the show seriously enough to give it a proper dub.

After Tiga dies to save the world.

"I can't believe Ultraman Tiga is really gone...maybe they'll name the show after me now!"

I have to correct myself, there were some things they treated quite well, like the Monster Bios and the opening credits.

Different Strokes For Different Folks

When Tiga was running in the US, Absolute Ultraman would run a detailed analysis, comparing the US version with the Japanese original, noting any differences. For the most part, they were apparently satisfactory adaptations, except for a regrettable tendancy towards the end to go for inappropriate humor.

I really liked the Tech Gear explanations, and Tiga's Mode briefings.

And, the US intro theme for Tiga was simply the BEST. I just wish things had gone on long enough to see what they would have done with Dyna and Gaia.

More on Tsuburaya's court victory:

According to this, Bandai made an agreement with Sompote; they paid 100 million yen in exchange for Sompote's surrendering all of his rights to the Ultraman franchise! So unless Sompote tries to make an appeal (he wasn't happy with the decision), Tsuburaya's in the clear. :)

I just wonder how this stupid **** happened in the first place. It was pretty obvious Tsuburaya made Ultraman and Sompote only entered the picture for that film with the Hindu deity fighting with the Ultra Bros. I hope that bastard suffers and loses his company to Tsuburaya, which would become the future Tsuburaya International . I'd laugh if that happened, especially since some of those Ultraman designs are pretty awesome and need series of their own.
