Torchwood - Season 1

Bloomin' toff.... well, shag me and call me Austin Power.

Hmm.......... am I a bad person for being disappointed? I don't think it's bad for gay folk, cuz I'd be damn glad to have Constantine and Jack showing off that anyone can be a badass no matter their orientation.

But again... my heroes, I like to see as extensions of me. And the bi-sexual thing... especially from the volumes of Hellblazer I've read it sounds... forced?

I just read Garth Ennis' run tho... when was it revealed he was bi?

That sounds like a deeper issue with your own sexuality and personal comfortableness that you need to deal with Keith.

Personally, not to open a can of worms, but I kind of think everybody's bi, and just has preferences.

Not really. Loads o' queer friends, and no question of my sexuality.

Again it's more about projecting. I like projecting into my heroes that are quick with the gun, the smirk, and a one-liner. The guy that gets the girls.

I no more want to project myself into a guy that gets the guys than I want to project myself into some character that prefers to do math problems as oppose to going out with his friends.

Having had this conversation and known a wide array of people I can assure you that not everyone's bi. Everyone is in their own place on the spectrum. That includes completely straight, completely gay, and completely bi.

I can see what you're saying here, defintely about being extensions of yourself. A lot of sucessful characters are the ones that you want to be and could possibly be. In my opinion, I would prefer to be Constantine rather than Jack, he's too flamboyant for my liking (and my mother said he was hot and kinda turned me off completely). Also, without the damned soul.

Now we're starting to get all the gay characters in comics and action-oriented media much like how there were black characters around the 70s(times probably wrong) and female ones before it. I personally prefer characters that are pretty a-sexual and for me, ruins it when they get a girl.

As for Constantines sexuality, he was a bit of a hippy during the bisexual days of free loving and during all the Stonewall riots (big gay right events), although he probably was drunk, smoking silk cut and playing cards at the time. He is a dirty bastard and just shags around, part of what I find so loveable about him. The major time he does 'flaunt' his homosexuality side was, suprisingly like everything else, to play someone. I don't know the full plot as I haven't read it, but it pretty much is the general Constantine plot of playing a larger game.
