I'm friends with and a fan of many unknown musicians, most of which are punk, hardcore, horrorpunk, deathrock, thrash, and ska artists, so if any of those appeal to you (and you never know until you give it a shot... a lot of these guys are better than 90% of what's popular today), check 'em out, give 'em a listen, maybe buy their merch, and help them keep making the kind of music that isn't just a cash-in.
Calabrese -
One of my absolute favorites. These guys combine hard, loud, fast instrumentals and face-melting vocals with oldschool, Hammer-style horror imagery. And they're catchy as all hell.

Nim Vind -
50's style doowop vs. hard rock. Vancouver-based frontman Nim Vind recalls the glory days of "greaser" rock n' roll with plentiful "whoahs" and addictive hooks that are hard not to sing along to.

The Other -
One more horror-influenced band, this time all the way from Cologne, Germany, The Other is heavier than most punk in the genre and is probably better suited to fans of hardcore and heavy metal. I dare you to listen to "Beware of Ghouls" without headbanging.

VIVISICK -
Like eating poprocks and cola while getting a hacksaw lobotomy from a mutant lobster, Japan's VIVISICK is one of the best, if not THE best, thrash band I've ever listened to. They're hella unknown, with only a small following in some venues in Japan. Probably because people are scared of them. Here's why:
